2018 Herring Fishery - 4WX Southwest Nova Scotia / Bay of Fundy Spawning Component

The 4WX herring fisheries occurs in the spawning areas off Southwest Nova Scotia (SWNS), including the Bay of Fundy. 

Dates of season (Subject to change)

The current herring fishery operates from October 15, 2017 – October 14, 2018.

Total Allowable Catch

The 2017/18 Total Allowable Catch (TAC) is 42,500 tonnes.

  • Mid Water Trawl: 340t (1% of TAC – 20% for Fixed Gear)
  • Purse Seine: 33,728t (80% of Balance)
  • Fixed Gear: 8,432t (20% of Balance)

Management Measures
