2020 Scotian Shelf shrimp (Shrimp Fishing Areas 13, 14, 15 and 16) Maritimes Region

Shrimp Fishing Areas (SFA) 13, 14, 15 and 16 are located in the DFO Maritimes Region in Nova Scotia from Cape North, Cape Breton to the Bay of Fundy.

Northern shrimp (Pandalus borealis)

Dates of season

Shrimp fishing in SFA 13, 14, 15 and 16 is open year round, from January 1st to December 31st.

Total allowable catches (TACs) and sharing arrangements

The 2020 TAC for SFA 13, 14 and 15 is 2,600 metric tons. The TAC is allocated in accordance with the established fleet shares:
Mobile fleet = 2,392 t (92% of TAC)
Trap fleet = 208 t (8% of TAC)
SFA 16 is a competitive fishery with no TAC.

Management measures

Scotian Shelf shrimp fisheries are managed under the Integrated Fisheries Management Plan for Shrimp (Pandalus borealis) – Scotian Shelf – As of 2013.
