At top of the infographic there are illustrations of bird species including black-legged kittiwakes, puffins, and northern gannets. On the bottom, a sea turtle is preying on jellyfish.

Over 10 million seabirds from 20 native species breed on Canada's Atlantic coast. Atlantic seabirds are doing well except for surface-feeders.

Surface-feeders like Black-legged Kittiwakes decreased after 1990 as changing oceanographic conditions made fewer prey fish available and fishery closures reduced fish discards.

Northern Gannet populations increased after pesticide bans in the 1970s.

Atlantic Puffins have increased since the 1992 Cod fishery closure.

Soft-shelled leatherback and hard-shelled loggerhead turtles are migratory and forage in these waters in spring, summer, and fall.
