15 Quebec Iceland Scallop - SFA 16E**, 16F**, 18A TBD The development of reference points for the Scallop Fishing Areas (SFAs) 16E and 16F stock is underway. An LRP was proposed for 16E in 2022-2023 and one will be proposed for 16F by the end of 2023-2024 which should determine if a rebuilding plan is required in the short term for either stock. In the interim, an IFMP for scallops in SFAs 16EF and 18A is being developed.
16 Quebec Northern Beluga (Nunavik) TBD

Continue preliminary work towards the development of an IFMP, as a first step.

It should be noted that the subsistence harvesting of beluga whales in Nunavik is governed by the Nunavik Inuit Land Claims Agreement (NILCA) which defines and safeguards the harvesting rights of Nunavik Inuit. Under this agreement, the Nunavik Marine Region Wildlife Board (NMRWB) is responsible for making wildlife management decisions.

A Recovery Potential Assessment (RPA) process for the Eastern Hudson Bay and Ungava Bay beluga populations is underway to provide the scientific information and advice needed to meet the various requirements of the Species at Risk Act (SARA). The resulting Science Advisory Report will contribute to the development of a rebuilding plan for these populations.

17 Pacific Chinook Salmon – West Coast of Vancouver Island* By end of 2023-2024

Expected date of completion revised to 2023-2024.

Science engagement was accomplished through 15 workshops from February to October 2022, to assess risk of factors limiting productive capacity is complete. The results of these workshops is being summarised into a report expected for completion in May 2023. Science is also working on providing up to date LRP numbers, expected completion is first quarter of 2023-2024. Rebuilding plan developed jointly with Nuu-chah-nulth expected to be completed in 2023.

18 Pacific Herring Haida Gwaii (Pacific QCI)* By end of 2023-2024

Most recent expert opinion recommends that this SMU is not below the LRP, and will come under Section 6.1 of the Fisheries Act, and will not require a rebuilding plan. Precautionary Approach summary document expected to be included in 2022-2023 Salmon IFMP in June 2023.
4 Pacific Chinook salmon - Okanagan* By end of 2023-2024 SARA management scenarios are now complete. Rebuilding team formed and includes both DFO and Okanagan Nation Alliance (ONA). Rebuilding planning is in the initial stages of development and will continue in 2023-2024.
