DFO Science chaired a Canadian Science Advisory Secretariat process to complete a Fisheries Science Advice Report in April 2024, with results expected in summer 2024. This peer reviewed document will include key advice on stock status, trends, probable causes of decline and reference points to aid in the development of the rebuilding target and other objectives. Engagement with First Nations on objectives and management measures is ongoing. The rebuilding plan, developed jointly with West Coast Vancouver Island First Nations is expected to be completed by the new deadline in April 2025. |
