2025 Canadian Total Allowable Catch (TAC) and Allocations for Greenland halibut in NAFO Subarea 0

The Canadian TAC and allocations for the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization (NAFO) Subarea 0 Greenland halibut (Turbot; Reinhardtius hippoglossoides) fishery have been set for 2025. The Minister has decided that the Subarea 0 TAC will be maintained at 16,502.5 tonnes (t) for the 2025 fishing season. Distribution of the TAC between Divisions 0A and 0B will also remain the same at 8,704.99 t and 7,797.51 t, respectively. Allocations within Divisions 0A and 0B are as follows:
Division 0A
Nunavut harvesters will continue to be allocated one hundred percent (8,704.99 t) of the Division 0A quota in 2025 via special allocations. 100 t from the Division 0A quota will remain dedicated for inshore fisheries development, inside the Nunavut Settlement Area.
Division 0B
In 2025, all allocations to fleets will be maintained. Through special allocations, Nunavut will continue to receive 3,840.59 t, Nunavik 402.82 t, Torngat Fish Producers Co-op Society 143.465 t, Nunatsiavut Group of Companies 62.766 t, and Labrador Fisherman Shrimp Union Co. 224.163 t. Enterprise Allocation Holders will continue to receive 2,223.702 t. The Fixed Gear Competitive allocation will remain 900 t. Sub-allocations to Nunavut enterprises for the 2025 fishing season will remain consistent with the Minister’s January 17, 2022 decision.
