Key topics
Recreational trout angling occurs throughout insular Newfoundland. The fishery has both summer and winter fishing seasons as outlined in the Angler's Guide. For insular Newfoundland, trout species include:
- ouananiche
- rainbow trout
- brown (sea run) trout
- speckled (brook) trout
The recreational trout fishery is managed using a combination of management measures.

- possession limits
Input gathered through this process may be used to inform changes to management measures used in the recreational trout fishery going forward into the 2019/2020 season.
