2019 herring fishery – Little Hope herring gillnet fishery

The Little Hope herring gillnet fishery occurs in the spawning areas off Southwest Nova Scotia (SWNS).

Dates of season (subject to change)

The Little Hope fishery operates from August 15 – October 31, 2019.

Total allowable catch

The 2019 total allowable catch (TAC) is 9,700 tonnes.

Management measures

The Atlantic herring fisheries are managed under the Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) and the Canadian Atlantic Herring SWNS Rebuilding Plan.
