2022 inshore scallop fishery in the Bay of Fundy – Scallop Production Areas 1-6
The 2022 inshore scallop fishery in the Bay of Fundy is managed by Scallop Production Areas (SPAs). SPAs are defined within licence conditions and the inshore scallop Integrated Fisheries Management Plan.
Dates of season (subject to change)
The 2021/22 inshore scallop fishing season in the Bay of Fundy operates from October 1 to September 30. There are variations in the active season between the fleets and between the SPAs. These differences are captured in conservation harvesting plans and variation orders.
Total allowable catch
2021/22 final TACs:
These TACs have been approved for each SPA:
- SPA 1A: 350 t
- SPA 1B: 450 t
- SPA 2: The fishery in SPA 2 is not regulated by a TAC.
- SPA 3: 200 t
- SPAs 4 & 5: 200 t (as has been the case since 2014, SPA 4 and SPA 5 will continue to be managed as one quota area)
- SPA 6: 265 t (2022 only)
2022/23 interim TACs:
These interim TACs (Full Bay fleet only) have been approved for the 2022/2023 fishing season, which opens October 1, 2022:
- SPA 1A: 250 t
- SPA 1B: 200 t
- SPA 3: 125 t
- SPA 4&5: 150 t
