Arctic Region Variation Order 2023-001

The Regional Director General of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada for the Arctic Region, pursuant to paragraph 43(1)(m) of the Fisheries Act and to subsection 6 (1) of the Fishery (General) Regulations, hereby revokes Variation Order 2022-007 issued on March 22, 2022 and makes the annexed Order varying the quota for Narwhal as set out in the Table to this Order.

Order varying the quota for Narwhal in the Nunavut Settlement Area

Short title

  1. This Order may be cited as Arctic Region Variation Order 2023-001.

Variation

  1. The quota as fixed by section 23 of the Marine Mammal Regulations, and as set out in Column II of an item of the Table in section 23, is hereby varied and no person shall fish for Narwhal after notice has been given by a fishery officer that the annual fishing quota set out in column II of that item has been reached.

Coming into force

  1. This Order shall come into force on April 1, 2023 and remains in force, unless otherwise varied.
