Public consultation on the discussion document for Canada’s Ocean Noise Strategy

This consultation sought comments on a discussion document for Canada’s Ocean Noise Strategy.
The Government of Canada sought input on a proposed framework that will be used to develop an Ocean Noise Strategy for Canada. This Strategy will build on important work completed to date and be a coordinated and forward-looking plan to help address the impacts of underwater noise caused by human activity on our marine environment. The feedback received on this discussion document will inform next steps for the development of the Ocean Noise Strategy.
Who was the focus of this consultation
This consultation asked for comments from:
- provincial, territorial and local governments
- Indigenous peoples
- industry stakeholders and association members
- non-government and environmental organizations
- academia
- the general public
The input gathered through this process will be used to direct next steps. This includes the development of a draft Ocean Noise Strategy for Canada with initial recommendations in summer 2021.
