3. Checklist
The Regulations governing activities allowed within the Eastport MPA mandate that the activity plan include certain information. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the information in the following checklist is included within the application form:
- the name, address and telephone number and, if applicable, the facsimile number and electronic mail address of a person who can be contacted in respect of the plan;
- a detailed description of the proposed activity that sets out
- its purpose,
- the period or periods during which it is to be carried out,
- a map on which its location is identified,
- the types of data that are to be collected, if any, and the sampling protocols or other techniques to be used to collect the data,
- the types of equipment, if any, that are to be used during the proposed activity, including those for gathering data, and if any of the equipment is to be anchored or moored in the marine protected area, the methods by which the anchoring or mooring is to be conducted,
- the type and identity of every vessel, within the meaning of section 2 of the Canada Shipping Act, that is to be used to carry out the proposed activity, and
- every substance, if any, that is to be deposited, discharged or dumped within the marine protected area during the proposed activity;
- an assessment of the environmental effects that are likely to occur within the marine protected area as a result of the proposed activity; and
- a list of every licence, permit, authorization or consent obtained or applied for in respect of the proposed activity.
Note:
Use this checklist to ensure that all required information is included. Other information may be requested by the MPA Management Team to ensure appropriate management of the Area. While your application will be evaluated only on the basis of the required elements, the speed and ease with which the application is reviewed can be advanced when more information is provided.
