The Current – managing Oceans Act MPAs now, for the future

Effective Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) are key to supporting the health and sustainability of Canada’s marine environment. The Current – Managing Oceans Act MPAs Now, For the Future provides a national overview of how Fisheries and Oceans Canada is progressing toward the effective management of Oceans Act MPAs. The report:

• examines how existing sites are managed in collaboration with other levels of governments, Indigenous peoples, local communities and marine resource users
• spotlights specific MPAs to illustrate how management approaches vary across the country
• profiles various management actions that can be taken over time on the pathway to effectiveness
