Check if your project needs a Fisheries and Oceans Canada review
The following steps will help you decide if you need us to review your project near water.
Step 1
Consult our guidance on regulatory partnerships if your project:
- takes place in:
- Nova Scotia
- New Brunswick
- Prince Edward Island
- is regulated by the:
- National Energy Board
- Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission
Step 2
Determine if there are aquatic species at risk and/or critical habitat in your area.
For information on harmful activities and threats to specific aquatic species at risk, visit the public registry.
Check our aquatic species at risk maps to determine where at-risk populations occur in Canada and where their critical habitat is located.
Step 3
Check if your project meets the criteria for project types and waterbodies where our review isn’t required.
