Context
The most recent peer-reviewed assessment of the Striped Bass (Morone saxatilis) population of the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence, DFO Gulf Region, provided information up to and including the 2019 spawning year (DFO 2020). Monitoring of the spawning population in the Northwest Miramichi has continued on an annual basis. Annual updates of spawner abundance and biological characteristics of the Striped Bass population have been provided with the most recent one for the 2019 spawning year (DFO 2020). DFO Fisheries and Aquaculture Management Branch requested an update for 2021 of the spawner abundance and biological characteristics of the Striped Bass population of the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Objectives
The objective of the meeting is to review the estimates of abundance and the biological characteristics of the Striped Bass spawning population of the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence for 2021.
