Context
The status of Iceland Scallop in the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization (NAFO) subdivision 3Ps (Canada-France Transboundary Zone) was last assessed in 2018 (DFO 2018). The current assessment was requested by Fisheries Management to provide current information on stock status and to provide the science advice that will be used in the management of the resource.
Objectives
- To assess the status of the Iceland Scallop resource in NAFO subdivision 3Ps (Canada France Transboundary Zone); and
- Advise on the sustainability of maintaining the current harvest level.
- Consider ecosystem status where the assessed stock occurs based on an overview including relevant summaries of oceanographic conditions, biological community structure and trends, and pertinent knowledge of ecological interactions (e.g., predator, prey) and stressors (e.g., anthropogenic impacts).
