Repealed: Interim order repealed for the protection of the North Atlantic right whales (eubalaena glacialis) in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, 2022

Transport Canada (TC) – November 15, 2022 – This notice to fish harvesters is issued in accordance with the Transport Canada 2022 traffic management measures to protect North Atlantic right whales (NARW) in Canada.

Speed restrictions in the static zones and seasonal management areas - repealed

On April 20, 2022, the Interim Order for the Protection of the North Atlantic Right Whales (Eubalaena glacialis) in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, 2022 came into effect. This Interim Order created speed restrictions over ground within the static zones and seasonal management areas, in the Gulf of St. Lawrence to reduce the risk to North Atlantic Right Whales.

The Interim Order for the Protection of North Atlantic Right Whales (Eubalaena glacialis) in The Gulf of St. Lawrence, made on April 20, 2022, is repealed on November 15, 2022.

A NAVWARN will come into effect at 0500 UTC on November 16th, 2022.
