Summary

The purpose of this solicitation of interest is to solicit input from interested parties on the future of the Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation (FFMC).

Purpose of this request for information

Parties interested in taking over the ownership and governance of the FFMC will express their interest by submitting capability statements. DFO will be looking to ensure the corporation is competitive in an open market, while meeting the needs of the commercial freshwater fish harvesters it now serves.

Nature of the solicitation of interest

This solicitation of interest is not a bid solicitation and will not result in the award of any contract. This process intends to collect feedback from interested parties with respect to the matters described in this request for solicitation of interest. Some of the content of this request for solicitation of interest may or may not be used in procurement at a future date.

Confidentiality

Consent to share the names of interested parties with the intent of facilitating the identification of potential partners or members of a consortium is requested, but voluntary.

Responses to the solicitation of interest

Each interested party is solely responsible for ensuring its feedback is delivered on time by way of email. You are welcome to submit this template in the official language of your choice.

Capability statements

Please describe how you are positioned to take on ownership of the FFMC through the following:

  1. Core competencies
    • Provide a short introductory statement relating to the interested party’s specific competency or area of expertise related to operations and governance of the FFMC
    • Include, if required, a bullet list of key information
  2. Prior experience
    • List past work that is similar in nature and that speaks to the following factors:
      • Experience in managing fish operations, e.g., nature and scope of operations, seasonality
      • Experience in engaging in economic trade with fish harvesters and fishing communities
  3. Differentiators
    • Identify what makes you different from other parties and how this benefits fish harvesters
    • Include relevant certifications and or qualifications

Additional information

Interested parties may also wish to respond to the following questions:

  1. Describe why your organization is interested in acquiring the FFMC.
  2. What timeframe would you expect to prepare for the competitive process?
  3. Among other considerations, bidding criteria for the competitive process will be developed to promote continued market access for rural, remote, and isolated harvesters, and to promote economic reconciliation. Please describe how your organization would contribute to these goals.
