Notice to fish harvesters

Instructions regarding logbooks for use in 2018-2022

On January 1, 2013, the fishing industry across Canada was required to assume responsibility for the supply, distribution and costs associated with their logbooks and combined forms. While DFO was able to provide its remaining inventory of logbooks to many participants in the 2013 fishing season, fish harvesters must now acquire these documents from suppliers prequalified by the Department.

The list of prequalified logbook suppliers. This list will continue to be updated as new suppliers are prequalified during the period from 2018 to 2022.

Logbook keeping remains mandatory under Article 61 of the Fisheries Act and as outlined in license conditions. Fish harvesters are therefore responsible for contacting one of the prequalified suppliers to order and pay for the documents they require. For the 2018 -2022 fishing seasons, fish harvesters must continue using and remitting logbooks, as well as sales slips, hails, and dockside monitoring forms where applicable, as they have in the past.
