Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Policy
Anne Lamar was appointed Senior Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) of the Strategic Policy Sector at Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) in March 2017.
In this role, Anne provides leadership on critical and cross-cutting priorities, including the Department’s domestic and international oceans and fisheries policy agenda; communications, Federal-Provincial-Territorial relations, and Indigenous relations.
Anne has held various Assistant Deputy Minister positions in the Government of Canada, most recently at Health Canada (HC) where she was the Assistant Deputy Minister of Regulatory Operations and Regions. In this role she led the development of a modernized compliance and enforcement regime to better protect the health and safety of Canadians. At Health Canada, she also held the positions of ADM, Communications and Public Affairs, and Associate ADM, Health Products and Food, where she led the development and implementation of a number of regulatory initiatives.
Over the course of her career, Anne has worked in various corporate and communications roles in a number of departments including Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Industry Canada, Natural Resources Canada, and Energy Mines and Resources Canada.
