Summary
A national science peer review by the National Marine Mammal Peer Review Committee (NMMPRC) was held on November 22 to November 26, 2010 in Mont Joli, Quebec. NMMPRC meets annually to discuss and review various scientific studies related to marine mammals. The purpose of the meeting was to review research documents and/or provide science advice on Northwest Atlantic grey seals (Halichoerus grypus), harp seals (Pagophilus groenlandicus), ringed seals (Phoca hispida), beluga whales (Delphinapterus leucas), narwhal (Monodon monoceros), Steller sea lion (Eumetopias jubatus), northern bottlenose whale (Hyperoodon ampullatus) and leatherback turtles (Dermochelys coriacea). This proceedings report summarizes the relevant discussions and presents the key conclusions reached at the peer review meeting.
