Proceedings of the Zonal Advisory Process on the Pre-COSEWIC Review of Striped Bass (Morone saxatilis); February 2 and 3, 2011

Summary

A zonal advisory process meeting was held February 2 and 3, 2011 in Moncton (New Brunswick) to conduct a science peer review of information on Striped Bass (Morone saxatilis) from eastern Canada. The zonal meeting was conducted in response to the request for an updated status report of this species by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC). Participants at the science review included DFO personnel (Oceans and Branch, Species at Risk, Habitat Management and Fisheries Management), from the province of Quebec, from aboriginal peoples, from university researchers, from the COSEWIC report contract author, and from external experts. A total of five research documents are anticipated to be published.
