Summary
A Gulf and Maritimes Zonal Science Advisory Process framework meeting was held at the Gulf Fisheries Centre, Moncton (NB) on December 6 to 8, 2010 to address analytical questions for Atlantic cod stocks in the DFO Gulf Region and Maritimes Region. The meeting reviewed assessment models, approaches for projections, and definition of limit reference points in preparation for the Recovery Potential Assessment (RPA) for Atlantic cod (February 2011). The meeting discussions were of a highly technical nature, involving quantitative assessment and modeling techniques. No catch or management advice was provided. The anticipated products from the meeting were this proceedings report and supporting research documents. Participants at the meeting included DFO Oceans and Science personnel from Gulf, Maritimes and Newfoundland and Labrador regions as well as DFO Fisheries and Aquaculture Management from Gulf and Maritimes regions. Conclusions on the assessment models, methods for doing projections, and limit reference points are provided and these are to be used during the Atlantic cod RPA of February 2011.
