Chairperson: J.A. Gagné
Rapporteurs: S. Dubé and A. Bui

Summary

This document contains the proceedings from a meeting held under the Regional Advisory Process to review information gathered under the two main themes of the Ecosystem Research Initiative in the St. Lawrence marine estuary: definition and characterization of the summer habitat of beluga whales (Delphinapterus leucas) and forage species responsible for the presence of the blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus). This review process was held from March 28 to April 1, 2011 at the Maurice Lamontagne Institute in Mont-Joli, Qc. It brought together about thirty participants from Fisheries and Oceans (Sciences, Species at risk management, Ocean management, Fisheries management) and Parks Canada. The objective was to review two working papers synthesizing the information required to prepare integrated advice for each of the two themes. These proceedings contain the essential parts of the presentations and discussions and present the main recommendations and conclusions emerging from the review.
