Chairperson: C. Cyr
Rapporteur: S. Dubé

Summary

A regional science meeting on the recovery potential of the Anticosti Island Atlantic salmon population was held in Québec City on December 4-5, 2012. The advisory meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministère du Développement durable, de l'Environnement, de la Faune et des Parcs (MDDEFP), du Ministère des Ressources naturelles du Québec (MRNF), the Société des établissements de plein air du Québec (SEPAQ), the Fédération Québécoise pour le Saumon Atlantique (FQSA), Atlantic Salmon Federation (ASF) and Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). The purpose of the meeting was to develop a Science Advisory Report on the recovery potential of the Anticosti Island Atlantic salmon population, taking into account the steps of the recovery potential assessment framework developed by DFO. The advisory report will orient the recovery process undertaken under the Canadian Species at Risk Act (SARA) for the Anticosti Island Atlantic salmon population, which has been designated "endangered" by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC). These Proceedings summarize the major points of discussion from the meeting and outline the main recommendations and conclusions.
