Results of gillnet surveys in the Saguenay River from 2000 to 2010

By H. Bourdages, M. Desgagnés, J-G. Rondeau, P. Goudreau, and J-D. Lambert

Abstract

The status of exploited marine species in the Saguenay Fjord is determined each year by examining various indicators from the recreational winter fishery and a research survey. This document presents the data and methods used to derive indicators from the survey. NUE estimates (number of fish per gillnet) for the eleven years of the survey (2000-2010) are presented for each of the four major species: redfish (Sebastes spp.), Greenland halibut (Reinhardtius hippoglossoides), Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) and Greenland cod (Gadus ogac). In addition, the size structures and biological parameters of the populations are presented.
