Gillnet research survey in the Saguenay fjord, 2000 - 2016

By Gauthier, J., Marquis, M.-C. and St-Pierre, S.

Abstract

The status of exploited marine species in the Saguenay Fjord is assessed every two years and is based on various indicators from the recreational winter fishery and a research survey conducted by DFO. This document presents the data and methods used to derive indicators from the DFO research survey. Estimates of the number of fish per gillnet (NUE) are presented for each of the four major directed species: Redfish (Sebastes spp.), Atlantic Cod (Gadus morhua), Greenland Cod (Gadus ogac), and Greenland Halibut (Reinhardtius hippoglossoides). In addition, biological data including size structures, fish condition, sex ratio as well as data of temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen are also presented.
