Stock Status Update of Northern and Striped Shrimp in SFAs 4, 5 and 6

Context
The status of Northern Shrimp (Pandalus borealis) in Shrimp Fishing Areas (SFAs) 4, 5 and 6, and Striped Shrimp (Pandalus montagui) in SFA 4 was last assessed in 2015. The current process was requested by Fisheries Management to provide an update on the status of these stocks and to provide the data that will be used to make recommendations for Total Allowable Catch (TAC) and related fisheries management measures for 2016/17. The information will also be used for the evergreen Northern Shrimp Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) document updates, in support of departmental contributions to Marine Stewardship Council certification processes and for fisheries checklist processes.
Objectives
- To update the status of Northern Shrimp in SFAs 4, 5 and 6; and
- To update the status of Striped Shrimp in SFA 4.
