Update of indicators of Atlantic salmon to 2018 for Salmon Fishing Areas 15 to 18, DFO Gulf Region

Context

The most recent peer-reviewed assessment of Atlantic salmon of Salmon Fishing Areas 15 to 18 of DFO Gulf Region provided information up to and including the 2013 return year (DFO 2014). Monitoring at index rivers continues on an annual basis. Annual updates of Atlantic salmon adult returns and juvenile indices were provided for the 2014 to 2017 assessment years (DFO 2015a, 2015b, 2016, 2017, 2018). An update of adult indicators of Atlantic Salmon for the Miramichi River in 2018 was recently published (DFO 2019). DFO Fisheries and Aquaculture Management Branch requested an update for 2018 of the adult returns and juvenile indices of Atlantic salmon to the index rivers in DFO Gulf Region.

Objective

The objective of the meeting is to review the indicators of abundance of Atlantic salmon adult returns and juvenile indices in the index rivers of DFO Gulf Region to 2018.
