Context

The most recent peer-reviewed assessment of Atlantic Salmon of Salmon Fishing Areas 15 to 18 of DFO Gulf Region provided information up to and including the 2013 return year (DFO 2014). Monitoring at index rivers continues on an annual basis. Annual updates of Atlantic Salmon adult and juvenile indices were provided for the 2014 to 2018 assessment years (DFO 2015a, 2015b, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019). An update of adult indicators of Atlantic Salmon for the Miramichi River in 2019 was recently published (DFO 2020). DFO Resource Management requested an update for 2019 of the adult and juvenile Atlantic Salmon indices for the index rivers in DFO Gulf Region.

Objectives

The objective of the meeting is to review the indicators of abundance of adult and juvenile Atlantic Salmon in the index rivers of DFO Gulf Region to 2019.
