Context
The status of the American plaice stock in Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization (NAFO) Divisions SA2+3K was last assessed in 2012. The current assessment is requested by Resource Management to inform management decisions for the stock.
Objectives
- Provide an ecosystem overview (e.g., physical and biological oceanography, predators, prey) for the NAFO Subarea 2 + Division 3K stock.
- A description of American plaice landings as by-catch in other fisheries;
- An update of indices derived from the DFO research vessel (RV) survey up to 2019, including abundance index, biomass, recruitment, size structure and geographical distribution of catches;
- Determine stock status relative to the Limit Reference Point.
