Context
The most recent peer-reviewed assessment of the Striped Bass (Morone saxatilis) population of the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence, DFO Gulf Region, provided information up to and including the 2021 spawning year (DFO 2022). Monitoring of the spawning population in the Northwest Miramichi has continued on an annual basis. Annual updates of spawner abundance and biological characteristics of the Striped Bass population have been provided with the most recent one for the 2021 spawning year (DFO 2022). DFO Fisheries Management Branch requested an update for 2022 of the spawner abundance and biological characteristics of the Striped Bass population of the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Objectives
The objective of the meeting is to review the estimates of abundance and the biological characteristics of the Striped Bass spawning population of the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence for 2022.
- Update of the spawning abundance estimates in Miramichi River.
- Update of biological characteristics.
- Update of uncertainties and knowledge gaps.
