National Marine Mammal Peer Review Committee - Annual Meeting; November 16-20, 2009

Summary

A national science peer review by the National Marine Mammal Peer Review Committee (NMMPRC) was held on November 16 to November 20, 2009 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. NMMPRC meets annually to discuss and review various scientific studies related to marine mammals. The purpose of the meeting was to review research documents and/or provide science advice on Northwest Atlantic grey seals (Halichoerus grypus), harp seals (Pagophilus groenlandicus), ringed seals (Phoca hispida), western arctic bowhead whales (Balaena mysticetus), St. Lawrence estuary beluga whales (Delphinapterus leucas), southern resident killer whales (Orcinus orca), northern Hudson Bay narwhal (Monodon monoceros), and Nunavut narwhal and beluga. This proceedings report summarizes the relevant discussions and presents the key conclusions reached at the peer review meeting.
