Context

The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources requested DFO's input into the review of the draft sediment licence conditions for cage aquaculture operations. DFO Fisheries and Aquaculture Management requested DFO Science undertake a review of the proposed new license conditions and the required sediment monitoring program.

Objectives

The objectives are to review the draft sediment licence conditions for cage aquaculture operations in Ontario and identify any critical science-based issues with them.
