Context
Indices of abundance from bottom trawl surveys with the research vessel in September and the sentinel fisheries will be used to update the stock status of managed groundfish species in the intervening years of the multi-year assessment and management cycle. DFO Fisheries and Aquaculture Management Branch requested an update of the indicators of abundance to 2013 for six groundfish species assessed and managed by DFO Gulf Region.
Objectives
The meeting objective is to review the indicators of abundance to 2013 for the following six species of groundfish in the Gulf of St. Lawrence:
- Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) 4T-4Vn(Nov-April)
- American plaice (Hippoglossoides platessoides) 4T
- White hake (Urophycis tenuis) 4T
- Winter flounder (Pseudopleuronectes americanus) 4T
- Yellowtail flounder (Limanda ferruginea) 4T
- Witch flounder (Glyptocephalus cynoglossus) 4RST
