Description
IMPAC5 will culminate in a one-day international Leadership Forum. Ministers from invited governments join leaders of Indigenous, environmental, philanthropic, educational and private sector organizations as well as young professionals. They will:
- hear the results of the IMPAC5 congress
- build momentum towards charting the course to protecting 30% of the world’s oceans by 2030
IMPAC5 has been endorsed as an official United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (Ocean Decade) Action. The Ocean Decade is coordinated and led by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and encourages global collaboration to advance ocean science to ensure a healthy and sustainable ocean for future generations. Fisheries and Oceans Canada works with the Canadian ocean community to advance Ocean Decade efforts.
